The History of the Rosicrucians and the A.O.R.

Frater CR is considered to be the founder of the Order of Rosicrucians. He supposedly lived between 1378-1484 and is mentioned in the 17th century Rosicrucian manifesto, the Fama Fraternitas. This socially critical and reformative publication should be considered a parable and viewed as more of a spiritual revelation than the biography of a real person.

Those who explored the inner mysteries back then, and did so using more than the official textbooks, had to fear accusations of heresy and such consequences as being burned at the stake. Therefore, most Rosicrucians operated in secret. Various underground secret societies had already formed by the 14th Century.

Both the visible and often invisible societies are today and always were mere outer garments. The real order is secret and exists as a successive chain reaching back thousands of years. Such orders are neither about names nor any person, but solely about the possibility for initiation. Initiation raises a person to the next level of evolution. The initiation prepares the student for immortality. In such a process, profane people are transformed in a holy grail, filled with the shining substance of life.

As humanity evolves, humanity needs change. The secret order adapts to the needs of humanity. The teachings and rituals are ageless, but this applies only to the content. The form is changing constantly, as forms are fleeting.

For this reason, initiates of the high mysteries met in the secret association of "Arc-en-ciel" in 1988. In the 90's they met in the "Cercle d'Alexandrie" and "Group of Thebes." Membership in these secret groups was exclusively reserved to the leaders of well-known orders. They worked together to establish a new association adapted for the era of the new millennium and keeper of all keys.

Thus in 1999 a new order with the name A.O.R. was created. It is the new dress of an order that has existed since time immemorial. This is what makes it the "ancient" Order.
